After earning her master’s degree in 1992 in Romance and German Studies, General Linguistics, studying at the University of Mannheim and the University of Nantes, she received her doctorate for a thesis on Roman Languages, Literature, and Media in 1996 (thesis: Charles Nodier. Digressionen), followed by the habilitation in 2002 (thesis: DeMONSTRAtion. Zur Repräsentation des Monsters in Literatur, Fotografie und Film). She has expert knowledge in the field of Digital Cultures, Media and Disability Studies, Assistive Technologies, and (Online) Gaming. Beate Ochsner was spokeswoman of the interdisciplinary Research Group “Media and Participation” (mediaandparticipation.com) supported by the German Research Foundation (2015-2022). Since 2021 she is a member of the Sensory Studies Research Directory (Montréal, Canada). She is founder of the Research Network “Social Serious Gaming” and member of the Expert Commission for the Evaluation of the Centre for Media Studies (Brandenburg).&lt;/p&gt;</BiographicalNote>
